AU – ECOSOCC COMMENDS ABIA STATE GOVERNOR FOR APPOINTING IHSD REGISTRAR AS HIS SPECIAL ADVISER ON HUMANITARIAN AFFAIRS, NGO MANAGEMENT AND SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT

The Nigerian Representative at the 3rd Permanent General Assembly of the African Union Economic, Social and Cultural Council (AU-ECOSOCC), Hon. Dr. Tunji John Asaolu, recently commended the Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu for appointing the Registrar of the Institute for Humanitarian Studies and Social Development (IHSD), Dr. Prince Francis Origa, as his Special Adviser (SA) on Humanitarian Affairs, NGO Management and Social Development.

He made this commendation on behalf of the entire members of the 3rd Permanent General Assembly of AU-ECOSOCC and the African Union (AU) in a letter he presented to IHSD Registrar during his visit to AU-ECOSOCC office in Abuja on Tuesday.

According to him, the appointment of Dr. Origa by the Abia state Governor will help brand the image of Abia state positively before the international community as such appointment is consistent with the pursuit of AU vision, particularly the AU Agenda 2063 framework, adding that they look forward to celebrating the Governor as one of the Governors bringing humanitarian face into governance in Nigeria.

Meanwhile in a separate letter presented to Dr. Francis, the AU-ECOSOCC Nigerian Representative congratulated him on his appointment which he described as well-deserved and timely. 

He said, “The appointment is a well-deserved one considering your pedigree and commitment to national development over the years and immense contribution, sincere commitment to the promotion of the culture of humanitarianism and Social Development issues. It couldn’t have come at a more auspicious time in our continental development.”

He went further to pledge his unalloyed support in ensuring the Registrar succeeds in his assignment and promise to mobilize for progress through series of positive programmes that will be beneficiary not just to the people of Abia State, but also to the nation at large.

On his part, Dr. Francis Origa thanked him for his continuous support while reiterating his commitment in driving sustainable social cum national development through holistic and strategic humanitarian interventions and response.
