IHSD moves to partner Delta State Government, trains staff of Delta State Directorate of Humanitarian and Community Support Service

The Institute for Humanitarian Studies and Social Development (IHSD) on Wednesday June 1, 2022 made a breakthrough in Delta State in its efforts to build partnership with MDAs of the government of Delta State.

IHSD was invited to the one day in-house capacity building organized to train the staff of the Delta State Directorate of Humanitarian and Community Support Service on Humanitarian Leadership and Monitoring & Evaluation mechanism.
IHSD again used the opportunity of this training to demonstrate that it remains the foremost Nigerian indigenous Humanitarian institution that providing alternative Professional education in the Humanitarian and social development sector.

Two courses from the range of courses offered by the IHSD were delivered in the training workshop, namely Monitoring and Evaluation and Humanitarian Leadership and Non-profit sector services, delivered by Ven Sam Njoku and Juliet Lotem respectively.

Declaring the training open, the Permanent Secretary, Mr O.C Nwani, informed the participants that the training was motivated by the desire of the Directorate to build the capacity of the staff with the right tools for effective delivery of their mandate for the development of the State. Further more, he noted that the choice of the IHSD as the facilitator of the training was because of their range of courses considered relevant to the needs of the Directorate.

The trainings involved the delivery of the topics by the resource persons, interactive sessions and questions and answers from the participants.

25 members of staff of the Directorate participated in the training which ended with a resounding vote of thanks as directed by the Permanent Secretary from the Directorate’s Director of Planning, Research and Statistics, Dr. Joyce Ogu who commended the Directorate for giving them the privilege and opportunity to undergo the training which she noted will impact on their work. She also appreciated the IHSD on behalf of the Directorate for the course packaging and the resources persons, Humanitarian Ven Sam Njoku and Humanitarian Juliet Lotem who represented the IHSD at the training and did justice to the two topics.
