IHSD HOLDS 8TH ANNUAL HUMANITARIAN PUBLIC LECTURE AND GRADUATION/FELLOWSHIP INDUCTION CEREMONY

Commemorating this year’ International Day for Disaster Reduction, the Institute for Humanitarian Studies and Social Development (IHD) held her 8th Annual Humanitarian Public Lecture and Graduation / Fellowship Induction ceremony with the theme: “Promoting the Culture of Humanitarianism and Volunteerism as a Value System in Nigeria: Imperative for Achieving Sustainable Development Goals and Disaster Reduction” in Abuja.

The epoch-making event which also marks the 10th year anniversary of the Institute was organized in collaboration with the National Orientation Agency (NOA), had in attendance representatives from different government Ministries, Agencies and Parastatals, members of the Institute, international organizations, NGOs/CBOs/CSOs representatives, the media, graduates as well as Fellows.

Delivering the opening speech, the Registrar of the Institute, Dr. Prince Francis Origa, gave a brief on the Institute and the milestones achieved so far. He emphasized the need for the promotion of the culture of Humanitarianism amongst the Nigerian populace, noting that IHSD has been in the fore front of promoting professionalism and intellectual dynamics in humanitarian services.

According to him, the Institute has so far trained 3,750 persons on issues of Humanitarian services and global best practices.

Among the highlights of the event includes the Unveiling of the Institute new logo, the Award segment were muti award winning TV Presenter/Executive Producer of Moneyline with Nancy on AIT, Nancy Nnaji, was a recipient of the Humanitarian Media friendly Amazon Award and decorated as a distinguished Humanitarian Fellow; alongside Dr. Tunji Asaolu, with Chukwuemeka Chianumba receiving the Humanitarian Excellence Award and the graduation/ induction of Fellows into the Institute.
