HONORARY HUMANITARIAN AMBASSADORS – SILVER (STATE LEVEL)
This award category is for people with broad appeal and influence to engage in dialogue with governmental and non-governmental institutions or organizations within their respective states and constituencies across the nation with the aim of promoting the core mandates of the Institute of Humanitarian Studies and Social Development. They are chosen upon recommendation of the co-coordinating consulting partner of the Institute and subsequently appointed upon approval of the governing council of the Institute. Selected applicants for this category would be expected to head and operate within a particular state applied for or assigned to; there are 72 positions (2 representatives) for the 36 states of the federation including the federal capital territory. Applicants will embark on intra-state and inter-state assignments. Cardinally, the post bearer would have the task of supervising the Honorary Humanitarian Ambassadors-Bronze at the local level within their States of primary assignment and shall synergize with other Ambassadors, government and stakeholders in increasing humanitarian awareness in their local government areas. Expectedly, the activities of this position should result in the establishment of a functional office for the coordination of humanitarian affairs and peace education as a demonstration of government political -will at all states and local government levels with Special Envoy Assistants/Advisers appointed specifically for such purpose by state governors.
ELIGIBILITY
- Applicant must show good citizenship and are passionate, courageous, inspiring, caring, principled, credible, and capable of acting as influential advocates for the rights of women, men and young people.
- Applicant must show leadership in their professions and readiness to use their social capital to promote IHSD’s mandate, especially on burning humanitarian issues and challenges through partnership with state government and other stakeholders within the state applied for.
- Applicants should be convincing and knowledgeable public speakers on various sensitive topics affecting humanitarianism and social development with at least a Bachelor’s Degree.
- Applicants must have reasonably good reputation and possess the personality and dignity required for such high-level role; and should be familiar with the politics, culture and the people of the given state applied for with the ability to penetrate the State Government and Organisations.
- Applicants must have specific on-going media connections, for example, star in a popular radio or television series; may also be a Sports figure, Musician, Comedian, Movies Star, Public Speaker or a popular eminent personality with the capability to harness the attention of top leaders in the community.

BENEFITS TO ALL AMBASSADORS AND SPECIAL ENVOYS
- All shortlisted Honorary Ambassadors/Special Envoys shall be given letter of appointment/designation, customized insignia and special plate numbers for vehicles; certificate and identity card issued by the Institute’s Governing Council and partners.
- The position holders would receive automatic Fellowship Certification and Gold Medal as Distinguished Humanitarian Fellows of IHSD while also serving as honorary consultants on peace education, child’s rights and protection advocates; and even after serving out the term, the Fellowship position shall remain for life in accordance with IHSD laws.
- The position bearers would be accorded international recognition by ‘Hope for Children’ CRC Policy Center in Cyprus, the UN and other partnering agencies and government in the vanguard of humanitarianism.
- Opportunities for national and international travels for humanitarian gathering and exchange programmes; making the voice heard and counts.
- The position will serve as a platform to leverage on for self-improvement, social status enhancement and opportunity to relate with key actors in the humanitarian world while receiving recognition as a worthy stakeholder.
- Humanitarian Merit Award will be awarded to Ambassador who has performed creditably.
- Recognition letter/certificate from Hope for Children (CRC Policy Center) in Cyprus will be awarded to Ambassador as Child’s Protection Advocate; promoting the UN Convention on the rights of the child.

- For applicants of Honorary Humanitarian Ambassadors – Gold (Special Envoys), kindly Include in your submission, a photo portrait, Letter of recommendation from a former or serving Federal Permanent Secretary, Commissioner, Judges, Justices, Minster, First Class Traditional Rulers or a Professor or any other Citizen of renowned accomplishments. The Ambassadors-Silver/Bronze should submit the same requirements as above but with recommendation letter from such personalities at the state level, while the Ambassadors-Diamond should submit same requirements with recommendation letter from the Head of their Institution, Dean of Students Affairs or Head of Department (HOD).
- Include a letter of motivation (between 200-250 words) stating your reason for applying and why you feel you are qualified for the position and what you intend to bring onboard as well as burning humanitarian issues you wish to use your position address during your one-year of service.
